Description:

South America, Bolivia, Spanish Colonial Period, ca. 19th century CE. A pair of silver cups, made from melted down coin silver. They are of similar form: hexagonal lower bodies capped by rounded, flared upper bodies. Each has a thin, curved handle that looks like the feathers and crests of a bird's body. Repousse motifs around the body of each are abstract floral. The Spanish Colonial period is renowned for its silver work. Size of largest: 5" L x 3.75" W x 4.4" H (12.7 cm x 9.5 cm x 11.2 cm); larger: 6.9 oz (195.6 g); smaller: 3.1 oz (87.9 g).
