Southeast Asia, Thailand or Cambodia, ca. late 19th to early 20th century CE. A hand-carved wooden coconut grater in the form of a recumbent rabbit with all four legs tucked beneath its rounded body. The animal features a tab-shaped tail protruding off of the posterior, a pair of lengthy ears folded back against the shoulders, and an ovoid head. Two petite glass spheres are set into the eye sockets, and a serrated iron grating tool projects from the narrow mouth. Fine patina envelops this wonderful example of Southeast Asian artistry!
