An endearing coconut grater, hand-carved from a single piece of wood to depict a sweet recumbent elephant with laid back ears, a plump body with a long tail, and an open mouth with an iron grater rising in lieu of a trunk. The national animal of Thailand, the elephant is treasured as a symbol of royalty and praised for its intelligence, longevity, and strength. Coconut has traditionally been used to create the most delicious fresh curries, desserts, and beverages in Thailand. A very special elephant coconut grater that boasts finely modeled and incised details as well as nice patina from age and use. Size: 13.25" L x 9.375" H (33.7 cm x 23.8 cm)

  • Condition: A few nicks, divots, and fissures to the surface commensurate with age. Nice lustrous patina. Grater has attained some oxidation also commensurate with age. Areas of green patina to the fitting that secures the grater.
