South America, bone carvings are 19th century CE and the cross is 20th century CE. A carved pair of figures, made from camelid bone, one depicting crucified Christ in a colonial style, the other the Virgin Mary. They are displayed as they were intended to be, with the Virgin at the foot of a cross mourning Her Son. On an elegant wooden cross painted black. Size of cross: 6.6" W x 15.7" H (16.8 cm x 39.9 cm); size of Christ figure: 3.9" W x 7.75" H (9.9 cm x 19.7 cm)

  • Condition: One of Christ's arms is restored and the other is repaired. Very nice patina from age and handling on bones. Cross itself is in very good condition and is much newer than the bone carvings.
