Southeast Asia, Borneo, Sabah Dayak, ca. late 19th to early 20th century CE. A hand carved Sabah Dayak charm figure sitting with raised knees and hands held up to the chest with nicely delineated fingers pointing skyward just beneath the figure's chin. As is characteristic of the Dayak, the figure's head is enlarged with boldly defined features and topped with a cap. A wonderful example with a gracefully aged surface and nice patina. Wood block stand. Size: 1" W x 3" H (2.5 cm x 7.6 cm)

Provenance: Ex- private collection of Ami Brown. Mr. Brown was the owner of the Coca Cola franchise in Israel and amassed a huge and very fine collection of Indonesian Kris's as well as other ethnographic and tribal arts. His collection numbered more than 3000 pieces with many on display during his life in the Ein Harod Museum of Art.
