Description:

Native American, Southwestern USA, ca. 19th to early 20th century CE. A finely preserved example of a leather belt bag, its surface decorated with powdery, mineral-based dark pink and white pigment. Attached to its body are a series of ornaments: a large iridescent shell fragment, three peach-colored shell fragments, two large canine teeth (perhaps from a coyote or a bear) and a sharp piece of dark grey flint. Leather fringes hang from the body, which has a broad flap that one can lift to reveal the pouch within. It also features a thin strap for attaching to a belt. Size: 4.25" W x 6" H (10.8 cm x 15.2 cm). Size does not include strap.
