Description:

**Originally Listed At $400**

Western Europe, Portugal, ca. 19th century CE. A fabulous and ornate pair of wood and brass stirrups with a box-like form. The front curves up and forms a pocket for the foot to rest in. An ornamental brass openwork piece is fitted over the front half and riveted down. An iron fitting encircles the center of the stirrup and forms a loop for attaching to the saddle. These ornate stirrups were a popular choice for riders because they offered protection for the feet in rugged terrain. Size: 8.5" L x 4.75" W x 5.5" H (21.6 cm x 12.1 cm x 14 cm)
