Native American, Plains Indians, ca. late 19th to early 20th century CE. A sweet pair of beaded leather moccasins, lane-stitched with sinew and glass beads, each decorated with coppery brown, black, and white checkerboard pattern surrounding a central panel featuring two tripartite stylized motifs in cobalt blue and pearlescent grey against a white ground above, and another panel featuring a rainbow-like motif in cobalt blue, cherry red, tangerine yellow, and aqua with extensions of green and yellow above and below, also against a white ground, and a border surrounding the shoes with similar rainbow-colored motifs, both with rawhide soles, upper instep, tongue, and laces. Size: 9.875" L (25.1 cm)
