Middle East, Persia (Iran), ca. 19th century CE. A beautiful cast iron talwar, sometimes known as a shamshir, a curved sword similar to a scimitar. The hilt is composed of a disc with a knucklebow with long tines that extend down around the blade, which is sharpened on one side. Size: 4" W x 36.7" H (10.2 cm x 93.2 cm)
