Description:

Near East / Central Asia, Ottoman Empire / Persia, Islamic culture, Qajar dynasty, ca. 18th to 19th century CE. An elegant bronze sprinkler ewer and a copper vase. The bronze sprinkler ewer features a ring foot, a classic elongated, swan-like neck, and a domed lid on a hinge. Its surface is nearly entirely adorned with intricate scrolling and interlacing girih and foliate motifs, exemplifying the timeless elegance of Persian artistry - this vessel style has endured since at least the 16th century. The copper vase showcases similarly etched girih and arabesque patterns, along with a decorative register of birds and palmettes encircling the broad midsection. It rests on a flared foot, with a body that tapers gracefully to an elongated neck and an outturned rim. Size of ewer: 10.75" L x 4.5" W x 14.75" H (27.3 cm x 11.4 cm x 37.5 cm); vase: 5" Diameter x 11.75" H (12.7 cm x 29.8 cm)
