Description:

**First Time At Auction**

Western Central Asia, Iran/Persia, ca. 19th century CE. A pretty glazed ceramic bowl with steep sides, a slightly corseted neck, and, on the interior, a beautiful black-outline motif of a long-beaked bird with a small crest on its head. The bird is painted a pretty purple-grey with turquoise wings and tail feathers, with the interior rim of the bowl decorated to echo the colors of the feathers. The type of bird may be a hoopoe, a bird native to Persia, related to kingfishers. The exterior of the bowl is simply glazed in the background beige of the interior. Size: 8" W x 3.55" H (20.3 cm x 9 cm)
