Western Europe, probably Italy or France, Neoclassical period, ca. 19th century CE. A fine pair of gold-painted wood columns, both fluted and skillfully carved to exemplify the Neoclassical decorative aesthetic. Each is crowned by a Corinthian capital with fluting down the shaft and a relief cherub motif on the drum. These examples would have served as opulent ornaments in a Neoclassical household or building. Just think of all the splendor they will exude in your own home!
