Description:

Native American, Southern and Southwestern United States, Southern Plains region, Plains Indians, ca. late 19th to early 20th century CE. A hand-carved wooden bow of a lengthy, slender form with a narrow body and a pair of conical prongs for attaching a bow string. The wood is meant to be pliable enough to send arrows flying but sturdy enough to be fired countless times. Tall bows like this example were used either by warriors in standing positions or on horseback. Size: 1.2" W x 65.1" H (3 cm x 165.4 cm)
