Description:

Native American, eastern United States and eastern Canada, Maine and Quebec, Northeastern Woodlands region, Penobscot (also Panawahpskek) peoples, ca. 19th to early 20th century CE. A formidable club that is hand-carved from the burl of a hardwood tree. The roughly spherical wood burl constitutes the striking head of the weapon and includes an integral handle that arches slightly about two-thirds down its length. Burl wood was prized when creating wooden weaponry, as the incongruous wood graining imbues the club head with far greater density and structural integrity. Size: 15.2" L x 3.375" W (38.6 cm x 8.6 cm)
