A Crow beaded hide blanket strip sold at Sotheby's New York for $53,125 (4 December 2013, lot 20). One may also find a similar Crow beaded blanket strip in the Metropolitan Museum of Art collection - see http://www.metmuseum.org/art/collection/search/319866

Native Americans of the Northern Plains began creating beaded blanket strips like this example in the mid 19th century. Such blanket strips were initially used as a means to cover a seam when two buffalo hides were sewn together to create a large robe. In time, Native American artisans began to use wool trade blankets to create robes, and elected to add beaded strips like this example as a purely decorative adornment.
