Latin America, Mexico, ca. 19th to early 20th century CE. A hand-carved and hand-painted wood statue of Saint Anthony of Padua standing on an integral plinth and gazing forth via white glass eyes below a tonsured coiffure and an iron halo. Traditional to his iconography, the holy figure wears a brown, floor-length robe with long sleeves and a hood as he holds the Christ child in his left hand. Size: 6" W x 16" H (15.2 cm x 40.6 cm)

Provenance: ex-private Bishop Family Trust collection, the Trust of the late Bill Bishop, a noted antiquarian with shops in Scottsdale, Arizona and Allenspark, Colorado, USA, acquired before 2010
