Description:

**Previously Listed At $125

Latin America, Mexico, ca. 1800 CE. A beautiful beaded coin purse, comprised of glass Chaquira beads, silk, and silver. Chaquira beads are incredibly small and beautifully colored. Mexican artisans used them to create remarkably detailed, complex patterns as you can see in this fine example. A hand beaded demanded incredible focus and a steady hand. A piece like this example could take weeks to complete. For similar examples see La Chaquira en Mexico, The Franz Mayer Museum, 1998. Size: 3-3/4" x 2-3/4" (9.5 x 7 cm).
