Europe, Germany, Sonnenberg, ca. late 19th century CE. A life size, hand painted plaster anatomy model of a human torso with a white privacy wrap at the waist mounted upon a wooden base with a small brass plate identifying the maker Marcus Sommer who started the Somso Werkstatten in Sonenberg in 1876. The model separates into parts and the organs are numbered and removable. Instructional anatomical models such as this example were used for educational purposes at medical institutions during the Victorian Era. Size: 27-1/2" x 13-3/4" x 10" (70 x 35 x 25.4 cm)
