A lovely homage to the original rendered on a KPM porcelain plaque, mounted behind glass in a custom frame. Size (sight view): 12.625" L x 10.25" W (32.1 cm x 26 cm) Size (frame): 21.125" L x 17.125" W (53.7 cm x 43.5 cm)

The Royal Porcelain Factory in Berlin, also known as the Royal Porcelain Manufactory in Berlin or in German Konigliche Porzellan-Manufaktur (KPM) was founded by King Frederick II of Prussia (Frederick the Great) in 1763. Experts, however, claim its actual origins can be traced to three private businesses aiming to produce "white gold" (porcelain) under the crown's patronage from the middle of th 18th century on. During the 19th century, KPM created porcelain plaques that featured compositions after Old Master paintings. Larger plaques like this example were technically complex to produce and thus, more valuable.
