East Asia, Japan, Meiji Period, ca. 1868 to 1912 CE. A pair of expertly woven silk panels displaying intricate artistry. The first panel showcases a scene of noblewomen wearing colorful kimonos in a flower field while another woman sits on a wood balcony overlooking them. The border is comprised of delicate orange lace bearing motifs of vines and large flowers. The second panel features several long-beaked cranes soaring high amongst billowing clouds. Size (cranes): 26.25" L x 25.125" W (66.7 cm x 63.8 cm); (women & lace border): 23.25" W x 23.25" H (59.1 cm x 59.1 cm)
