Description:

**Originally Listed At $250**

East Asia, Japan, Meiji Period, ca. mid to late 19th century CE. A fascinating cultural artifact, an original merchant's cash book firmly found with a cotton string. It contains hundreds of pages waiting to be deciphered by someone skilled in Japanese. Tiny tabs on the side mark off sections. Even though this is just someone's ledger, the beautiful calligraphy and sure brushstrokes make it a work of art. Size: 16.6" L x 5.95" W x 0.85" H (42.2 cm x 15.1 cm x 2.2 cm)
