Southeast Asia, Indonesia, Madura, ca. 19th century CE. A hand-carved wooden kris handle depicting a sweeping horse head atop an otherwise highly abstract body. The composition is painted with red and golden pigments and has a circular silver guard beneath. Size: 4.625" L x 1.8" W x 1.7" H (11.7 cm x 4.6 cm x 4.3 cm); 5.375" H (13.7 cm) on included custom stand.
