Southeast Asia, Indonesia, ca. late 18th to 19th century CE. A wonderful example of a Maharaja presentation sword bearing a steel blade, a gilt silver hilt, a rose gold hilt guard, and an intricately carved wooden pommel. The forged-steel blade is sharpened along the interior edge and has a thick exterior spine, and the hand-carved wooden sheath has a triangular blade housing that fits the blade beautifully. Presentation swords like this example were important enough to their owners that they were stored in the treasure rooms of the royal houses. Size (w/ sheath): 1.3" L x 2.375" W x 27.25" H (3.3 cm x 6 cm x 69.2 cm); 10.6" H (26.9 cm) on included custom stand; (blade): 20.75" L x 1.4" W (52.7 cm x 3.6 cm); metal quality: hilt is 59.87% gold, 36% silver, 3% copper; hilt guard is 52.44% copper, 34.36% gold, 11.4% silver
