Description:

Central Asia, India and Pakistan, Indo-Persian culture, ca. 19th century CE. An interesting belt section with an upper panel backed with thick cloth. The section is comprised of dozens of nickel-silver panels, ringlets, and chain links to present a lavish accessory. The lower fringe is lined with 20 dangling strands of links and petite roundels, red glass cabochons, and larger roundels that suspend 5 crescent moon ornaments with red and green glass. Several additional glass inlays ornament the upper band and create a dazzling presentation. Belt sections like this were perhaps included as wedding attire for the bride. Size: 13" W x 7.25" H (33 cm x 18.4 cm); (center pendant): 2.75" W x 2" H (7 cm x 5.1 cm)
