Central Asia, India, ca. late 19th to early 20th century CE. A wooden panel depicting a female Jamuna (river goddess), crowned, holding lotus blossom attributes. A cobra winds sinuously around her body and a small, bearded worshiper is at her feet. The surface has been painted brightly, and much pigment remains. This was original from a doorway or lintel. Size: 12.9" W x 17.25" H (32.8 cm x 43.8 cm)
