South Asia, India, ca. 19th century CE. A fine wood panel of rectangular form, skillfully hand-carved with a relief Hindu devotee or priest, standing on a lotus petal pedestal. The man wears a short skirt loin cloth, and his hands are clasped in prayer or worship before his rotund body- wrinkles of skin are carved into his arms and chest. His head is bald, with a furrowed brow from age or deep thought, but his expression kind and tranquil. Size: 4.5" L x 2" W x 12.75" H (11.4 cm x 5.1 cm x 32.4 cm)
