Description:

Central Asia, India, ca. 19th century CE. A forged-steel punching dagger known as a katar with a double-edged blade projecting from the base of an H-shaped handle. Between the narrow lateral bars are two horizontal handles with large central bulbs to facilitate one's grip. The blade shoulder dips down twice two provide a compact yet effective design for withstanding piercing or lunging strikes, and a crested midrib increases the stability of the blade even further. Accompanying the katar is a triangular, maroon-hued velvet sheath. Size: 14.8" L x 2.5" W (37.6 cm x 6.4 cm)
