Description:

Central Asia, India, Nasik-Sagar region, ca. 19th to 20th century CE. A small octagonal amulet made of silver with a gilded decorative area on one side depicting a seated male and female whose arms are entwined in what appears to be a loving embrace. There are many couples in the Hindu pantheon, like Shiva and Parvati, and Krishna and Radha; this may be a representation of one of these. The amulet has a loop for suspension. (5.67 g) Size: 1.05" W x 1.2" H (2.7 cm x 3 cm)

Provenance: Ex-Private Orange, County CA collection acquired between 1990 and 1995
