Central Asia, India, ca. 19th century CE. A brass ceremonial shield of Virabhadra wearing the karanda mukuta crown, the goat headed Daksha to the left and Sati on the right and large handle on the verso for carrying during processionals ceremonies. Virabhadra was a warrior hero and an incarnation of Shiva's wrath - he decapitates Daksha out of vengeance for humiliating Sati. Size: 8" W x 11.5" H (20.3 cm x 29.2 cm); 14" H (35.6 cm) on included custom stand.
