South Asia, India, Bidar, ca. 19th century CE. An elegant vase, made of brass with inlaid 80% silver, made in a style known as Bidriware that originated in the 14th century in the city of Bidar and refers to the ornate manner of its inlays. The vessel has a globular base and a long, tall neck that widens to its lidded top. Beautiful decoration, all abstract geometric or floral, rings the body and neck. Size: 6.9" W x 14.7" H (17.5 cm x 37.3 cm)
