Southeast Asia, Philippines, Luzon island, ca. 19th century CE. A finely carved Ifugao wood spoon (pakko), its handle depicting a seated nude figure - perhaps a thinker or a dreamer - with crossed arms resting on upraised knees and wearing a high globular headdress that doubles as a ladle, with a concave pointed spoon at the opposite end. A special example with a very nice lustrous age patina. Size: 10.5" H (26.7 cm); 11.875" H (30.2 cm) on included custom stand.
