Muslim Spain (Al-Andalus), ca. 19th century CE. A lovely vase with twin handles painted in lusterware with a large bird on each face surrounded by floral and leaf-like elements which extend to the base and spout; all in a gorgeous copper and creamy white hues. Size: 9-1/2" (24.1 cm) x 4-3/4"(12.1 cm).

Hispano-Moresque ware is a style of Islamic pottery originally produced in Muslim Spain (the tradition carried on under Christian rule). It was a precursor to the maiolica style and was exported over most of Europe.
