Description:

South Pacific, Hawaii, ca. 19th century CE. A lovely bowl with a projecting handle, hand-carved from coffee-hued hardwood. The bowl has a round but stable base, wide walls that curve inward, and a thick rim hanging over the shallow basin. The rod-form handle has a slightly curved tip and a thick body. Handled bowls like this could be used for personal drinking purposes or as a ladle for serving. Size: 11.75" L x 6.5" W x 3.4" H (29.8 cm x 16.5 cm x 8.6 cm); 7.125" H (18.1 cm) on included custom stand.
