Description:

South Pacific, Hawaiian Islands, ca. late 19th to early 20th century CE. A beautiful drinking cup formed from coconuts that have been skinned of their coarse exterior husk fibers. The cup portion has a wide opening with one tapered end along the top, and the base rests upon five lobed feet. The base is attached to the cup via a small metal nail through the bottom of the cup body. Size: 4.125" W x 4.1" H (10.5 cm x 10.4 cm).

  • Condition: Repair to bottom of base with small wooden disc, with adhesive residue along break lines. Cup attached to base via small metal nail. Minor abrasions to cup and base, with light encrustations within both components. Light earthen deposits throughout. Old inventory label beneath base.
