Description:

North Pacific, Hawaiian Islands, ca. late 19th century CE. A beautiful and fine-grained goblet made from a hollowed and shaved coconut with a wooden foot. Boasting a lustrous sheen, the goblet is comprised of a dark-brown coconut shell with a smooth, annular rim, a bulbous body, and a deep basin sitting upon a tiered wooden pedestal. The pedestal is attached to the cup via a small metal screw that can be seen at the bottom of the coconut's basin. Both the coconut and the wood display a rich coat of deep chocolate brown with natural butterscotch-hued striations throughout. Size: 5.5" in diameter x 6.375" H (14 cm x 16.2 cm)
