Description:

North Pacific, Hawaiian Islands, ca. late 19th century CE. A fantastic bowl made from a hollowed coconut shell, boasting a deep hue of espresso. Presenting a polished exterior, the thin walls curve out to an annular rim, all sitting upon a rounded base. Bowls and cups like this example were typically used in royal dinners, celebrations, or other events of regal importance. Due to the thinness and the fragile nature of coconut shell, few have survived in such fine condition, making this piece quite special! Size: 4.75" Diameter x 3.25" H (12.1 cm x 8.3 cm)
