A delightful silver snuff box with a gilt interior and an enameled scene of 2 lovers and a cherub in a countryside setting on the lid set behind glass. The sides are adorned with turquoise-hued enamel while an incised foliate border surrounds the glass painting and stippling decorates the underside of the base. Stamped with "Germany," the post-1884 national mark of a crescent moon and crown, "935" for silver quality, and a maker's mark of a chalice. Size: 3.9" L x 2.8" W x 0.6" H (9.9 cm x 7.1 cm x 1.5 cm); silver quality: 93.67%; weight: 215.6 grams
