Western Europe, France, ca. April 1868 CE. A wonderful brass and steel sword bayonet with a form-fitting sheath, each marked with a matching number "H 29631." The forged-steel blade has a lightly curved profile with a deep fuller, a thick spine engraved with the message "Mre Y mple du St. Etienne avril 1868" opposite a sharpened edge, and a pointed tip. The steel hand guard features a circular barrel ring and a semicircular finger guard, and the brass handle bears a rifle connection slot with a release button on one side. The form-fitting sheath has an integral strap loop on one side and a spherical lower tip. Size (w/ sheath): 3.9" W x 28" H (9.9 cm x 71.1 cm); (length of blade): 22.6" L (57.4 cm).
