Western Europe, England, London, & France, Paris, ca. 19th century CE. United States, Illinois, Chicago, ca. early to mid-20th century CE. A collection of antique instruments- 3 boxwood clarinets with ivory and brass, and wooden flutes with ivory, brass, and silver keys. Included is a William Milhouse, London C. clarinet, boxwood, brass, and ivory - all pieces including the mouthpiece match! Another boxwood clarinet marked "Improved London" with a crown emblem and the joint fittings are ivory, while the bell rim is bakelite or resin. The third boxwood clarinet is marked R. Mould with ivory fittings. The ebonite clarinet's upper & lower joints and bell are marked Frank Holton, the mouthpiece is Buffet Crampon, barrel is unmarked. The two flutes are ebony wood with ivory fittings- one is C. Gerock, and the other is HY Potter. Size of largest clarinet: 26" L x 3" W (66 cm x 7.6 cm)

This is an ESA antique exempt piece of ivory and cannot be sold internationally or to anyone residing in the states of California, Hawaii, Illinois, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, and Washington. We guarantee that the piece is over 100 years old.

  • Condition: Milhouse clarinet has a chipped mouthpiece, but rest is in good condition. R. Mould clarinet, stable pressure fissures in wood, joints are loose, bell surface is chipping and repaired with a white adhesive, with chip and infill to crack on ivory bell rim. Improved London clarinet has a Bakelite bell rim and ivory joint rings, the joints do not fit flush together. Black clarinet mouthpiece and barrel do not match the lower joints and bell and are different makers. Gerock Flute is in poor condition and needs repairs, joints are very loose, stable fissure on the mouthpiece, loss to ivory. Potter flute has a large fissure as shown, a key is broken off. These have not been tested for functionality.
