Description:

Western Europe, ca. 19th century CE. A dramatic sculpture of crucified Christ, expertly carved from bovine bone. The Christian savior turns his thorn-crowned head downward to his right, his bearded face solemnly in repose as his long hair is surmounted by a crown of thorns. With both hands and feet displaying the stigmata, he appears emaciated, as his ribs are clearly delineated above a concave stomach and the cascading drapery of his loincloth. Size: 6.3" W x 8.5" H (16 cm x 21.6 cm)
