Description:

Western Europe, England, ca. 19th century CE. A collection of three wood flutes with brass keys and elephant ivory fittings. The light colored wood flute is stamped with Thomas Prowse marks, the body segment is stamped "T. Prowse / Hanway Street / London / Improved." The other 2 flutes do not have any discernable maker marks. Size of largest: 26.5" L x 1.2" W (67.3 cm x 3 cm)

This is an ESA antique exempt piece of ivory and cannot be sold internationally or to anyone residing in the states of California, Hawaii, Illinois, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, and Washington. We guarantee that the piece was made prior to 1972.

  • Condition: Fair condition and not tested for functionality. Cracks and losses to the ivory fittings and large pressure fissures in the wood of the light colored flute. Missing a ivory ring near the brass fitting on largest flute. Green patina and toning. Rubbing but discernable maker marks on Prowse flute.
