Description:

Northern Europe, England, Sheffield or London, ca. 1863 to 1880 CE. A fancy set of 15 sterling silver utensils made specifically for fruit. The set includes 6 knives and 6 forks for eating, and a large knife, fork, and pinchers for serving. Each piece is stamped with several hallmarks including "RMEH" within a square with rounded edges, the maker's mark for Martin Hall and Co. The service is contained in the original wooden and lacquer carrying case, lined with blue velvet to protect this cherished silverware. Size of case: 10.25" L x 13" W x 2.75" H (26 cm x 33 cm x 7 cm); knife: 10.75" L x 1" W (27.3 cm x 2.5 cm); quality of silver 92.5% to 93.7%; total weight: 181.437 grams
