East Asia, China, Late Qing Dynasty, ca. late 19th to early 20th century CE. A playful tea pot, of a petite size to hold just one cup of tea, with a charming squirrel finial on the top of its lid, all formed from 43% silver and copper. Around the body, which is delightfully shaped like a pumpkin, there are nine different applied relief human figures. The body stands on a cinquefoil leaf-shaped foot and has a delicate spout projecting from one side. The handle is decorated with a wrapped wire decorated with vines and four leaves.
