Description:

East Asia, China, Qing Dynasty, ca. 19th century CE. A beautiful Famille Rose porcelain dish with a quatrefoil shape that is painted with symbolic motifs and characters. The basin rests on a flared foot that has a stylized red character stamp. The exterior rim of the foot is decorated with red vines and floral motifs. The underside of the lobed basin is painted with stylized bats and peaches in pink, green, and red overglazing. Most unique are the lobed corners and the cluster of red-orange stylized stamps within the basin in various medallion shapes including peaches, ferns, bamboo leaves, banners, circles, and squares.
