Description:

East Asia, China, Qing Dynasty, ca. 19th century CE. A lovely porcelain bowl made for export, inspired by the Japanese style of Imari ware, painted in characteristically bright colors and stylized images on an ivory white ground. The bowl rests on a ring base and the walls swell gently outward, adorned with framed cartouches of tranquil garden scenes and birds. The inner rim and tondo also alive with trees and a stylized motifs in red, green, cobalt blue, orange, and brown. Size: 9.5" Diameter x 3" H (24.1 cm x 7.6 cm)

Provenance: ex-Nancy and Dr. E.F. Simpson collection, Los Angeles, California, USA, acquired from 1970 to 2000
