A fine example made for the 19th and early 20th century antique market: a brass bell featuring the form and decoration of bronze bells from the Eastern Zhou dynasty. Elaborately adorned, the instrument features rows of bosses, spikes, relief hexagonal patterns, and a central channel of Chinese script. Size: 8.8" W x 13.3" H (22.4 cm x 33.8 cm)

Provenance: private Rockford, Illinois, USA collection, acquired in the 2000s via descent, originally acquired in China in 1948
