Description:

East Asia, China, later Qing Dynasty, ca. 19th century CE. A beautiful, double-sided nephrite jade bi disc adorned with knobs and flanked by a pair of elaborate, gilt zoomorphs, each boasting a sinuous, scrolling body with the head of a dragon at one end and that of a phoenix at the other. Each dragon head expels fierce flames from its elongated snout, while the bird heads curl inward. Their bodies are further embellished by incised decoration with liberal remains of light red pigment in recessed areas. Size: 2.2" W x 3.1" H (5.6 cm x 7.9 cm)
