East Asia, China, Qing Dynasty, ca. 19th century CE. A hand carved wooden figurine for a shrine or altar niche, gilt in a high quality 55% gold (equivalent to 13k+). This is perhaps a Daoist deity / Immortal figure, the hair is pulled into elaborate coiffure, and the body is dressed in once brightly painted robes with low relief patterns on the gilt areas. Size: 1.75" L x 1.3" W x 5" H (4.4 cm x 3.3 cm x 12.7 cm)

Provenance: Estate of R. Pearson, Denver, Colorado, USA; Mr. Pearson collected from the third quarter of the 20th century until he passed away.
