Description:

East Asia, China, Qing Dynasty, ca. last quarter of the 19th century. A framed erotic ink drawing on silk fabric. The artist has provided a bird's eye view of this smitten couple in the foreground of an interior, the nude male sitting in a bathtub and clearly aroused; the female standing beside him holding a bucket, while the male reaches beneath her clothing to explore her body. A lovely outdoor bamboo garden is visible beyond a balustrade, and to the left is a shelving unit with a collection of ceramic and lacquer wares. All is hand drawn with ink and hand colored in watercolor. A risque bathing scene set in a triple mat (gold, cornflower blue, and off-white linen) under glass in a gold-hued wooden frame.
