Description:

East Asia, China, ca. 19th to early 20th century CE. A fantastic ceramic and bronze pot used to smoke opium, composed of a cylindrical bowl with a flat base, a long, curved, bronze inhalation tube, and a bronze rim that seals the top of the bowl and has a conical stem. The stem would be heated in a fire and inserted into the top of the wooden bowl; opium tar in the bowl would then smoke, allowing the user to inhale it through the tube. The ceramic exterior is decorated with blue characters on its sides and on the underside of its base. Size: 2.5" W x 12.4" H (6.4 cm x 31.5 cm)
